Tech Scale-up Wemolo Moves into New Munich Headquarters in Heritage-Listed Isarwinkel Ensemble

Europe’s leading provider of digital parking solutions moves from "Weisses Quartier" to a 2,200 m² ensemble of the former Isartalbahn, creating space for its next phase of growth.
Munich, March 27, 2026. A heritage-listed railcar hall of the former Isartalbahn (Isar Valley Railway) near the Isar River is becoming the corporate headquarters of one of Germany’s fastest-growing tech companies. Wemolo (www.wemolo.com), a specialist in AI-based parking solutions, has moved into its new headquarters at Isarwinkel 4 in Munich-Thalkirchen. The company is leasing approximately 2,200 square meters of office space, including garden and terrace areas, within an ensemble consisting of a historic railcar hall and a modern new building. Project development was handled by Binnberg Architekturentwicklung, and the landlord is Isartalbahnhof Thalkirchen oHG. The relocation from the previous tech campus at "Weisses Quartier" follows years of intensive growth. In 2024, Wemolo achieved profitability with 40 million euros in revenue and has since grown to more than 250 employees. With the new location, the company is establishing the spatial requirements for its next scaling phase.
Dr. Yukio Iwamoto, CEO and co-founder of Wemolo: "This step was overdue. We are profitable, we continue to grow, and we need a place that reflects all of this. The revitalized railcar hall is a unique location that fits our culture perfectly. At its core, we do nothing different: utilizing existing space intelligently."
Historic Industrial Architecture Meets Modern Office Structure
The new residence is located on the grounds of the former Isartalbahn, close to the Isar floodplains and the Thalkirchen subway station (U3). By bicycle, the city center is reachable in just a few minutes along the Isar. The new headquarters combines two buildings: the heritage-listed railcar hall of the Isartalbahn and a contemporary new building.
A photovoltaic system on the roof of the new building provides the site with locally generated electricity. In addition, charging points for e-mobility are available in the underground garage for employees.
The architecture of the new building integrates seamlessly into the ensemble, creating loft-like spaces with natural daylight. A spacious community area serves as a meeting point for lunches and all-hands formats. Terraces and garden areas extend the working environment outdoors. The site is one of the few commercial locations in Munich with its own garden and access to the water.
Dr. Iwamoto: "We chose this location deliberately. Isarwinkel is a special place in Munich and fits the way we work. The railcar hall offers space for focus, the new building for interaction. This is exactly the mix we need in our current phase. And for anyone who needs to clear their head after a long day, the Isar is only five minutes away."
Four Years of Growth at "Weisses Quartier"
Since August 2021, "Weisses Quartier" in Munich-Obergiesing served as Wemolo's home base. The multi-tenant campus on the former Siemens site provided the company, founded in 2019, with the necessary flexibility for its build-up and early growth. During this time, Wemolo evolved into a scale-up active across Europe. The company now operates over 3,500 parking areas in five European countries and processes more than 2.5 million parking events daily with its barrier-free free-flow systems.
Munich Location: From Campus to a Private Address
The move remains within Munich. The tech campus at "Weisses Quartier" is followed by an ensemble with its own address, its own history, and a clear spatial identity. The move speaks less of simple expansion and more of consolidation. Wemolo is a scale-up that operates profitably, continues to grow, and is reorganizing its structure spatially.
The new location fits into an environment that has turned Munich into one of the most important scale-up hubs for technology-driven B2B companies in recent years. An ecosystem has emerged around the TU Munich and UnternehmerTUM, where research projects evolve into marketable technologies and scalable business models. In 2024 alone, more than 2.3 billion euros in venture capital flowed into Bavarian startups. A large portion of this went to tech and AI companies from the Munich area.
Wemolo’s decision to take its next growth step consciously within Munich demonstrates the strength of this ecosystem for technology-driven scale-ups.
