The founding team
Bastian Pieper
Bastian Pieper, graduate of the TU Munich in Robotics, Cognition and Intelligence, research stay at Stanford. At Wemolo, he heads the Product and Engineering Department and focuses on the further development of the product and future innovations.
Jakob Bodenmüller
Jakob Bodenmüller, a graduate in computer science and business administration from the Technical University of Munich, founded the company HIGGS for real-time video applications before joining Wemolo. At Wemolo, he heads the Commercial, Legal & Strategy Department.
Yukio Iwamoto
Yukio Iwamoto, a medical graduate with experience in clinics, research and start-ups, is Head of Finance & Accounting, Operations and People & Culture at Wemolo.

Series A financing round
In 2022, Wemolo achieved a milestone with a Series A financing round of €15 million supported by SURPLUS Equity Partners, Armira Growth and existing investor HenQ. At the same time, Wemolo managed 900 parking spaces at all European locations in August. The expansion continued as the company expanded to Italy, Denmark and Poland in April.

Wemolo expands to Italy, Denmark and Poland at the same time
Expansion into the umbrella regions
The expansion continued in 2021 when Wemolo won its first international customer in Austria in May. In September, ParkingNext was acquired, and in October, the DACH region was completed, while expanding into Switzerland at the same time.
Two rounds of financing
The financing rounds in 2020 secured Wemolo pre-seed funding of 650,000€ in January and seed financing of 4.7 million € from HenQ in February.

Wemolo was founded in 2019 by Jakob Bodenmüller, Moritz Bodenmüller, Bastian Pieper and Yukio Iwamoto. The founding team originated at UnternehmerTUM at TU Munich. In July of the founding year, the company signed its first customer contract.
