Initial situation: Challenges in the use of parking space
Before the introduction of the Wemolo solution, REWE Richrath suffered from frequent third-party use of the parking spaces. Parking spaces intended for REWE customers were occupied by non-customers, especially at peak times, which impaired customer satisfaction. Added to this were the challenges of integrating third-party providers such as bakeries and managing e-charging stations. These complex requirements necessitated a modern, flexible system that would both ensure availability and simplify operational processes.
Solution: Digitalization and flexibility for maximum results
The implementation of Wemolo's technology enabled REWE Richrath to efficiently transform parking space utilization and achieve measurable improvements:
Camera-based parking space monitoring
License plate scanners were installed at all locations to record vehicles entering and leaving the car park. This led to a significant improvement in parking space availability of up to 90%, as third-party parkers were efficiently excluded.
Digital parking space management
Parking authorizations can be flexibly managed via the intuitive customer portal. Third-party providers such as bakeries receive QR codes that allow their customers to easily extend their parking time. This function improves the customer experience and promotes a relaxed shopping atmosphere.
Data analysis and capacity management
Using real-time data from the Wemolo dashboard, REWE Richrath analyses the usage patterns of the parking spaces and optimizes capacities in a targeted manner. These data-based insights enable better management of peak times and efficient long-term planning.
Flexible rental of parking spaces
Unused parking spaces are rented out via the WemoloBooking platform, generating additional income of up to 600 euros per month. Whether for short-term or long-term parkers - the system enables sustainable use of the parking spaces.
Integration of e-charging stations
The existing infrastructure of e-charging stations has been seamlessly integrated. Vehicles with extended charging times benefit from special regulations that allow longer parking times without affecting availability for other customers.
With over 12 locations in Germany, REWE Richrath was faced with the challenge of improving the organization and utilization of its parking spaces. Wemolo has a solution for almost every parking space. In a non-binding conversation, we will be happy to show you what needs to be considered in your parking space. In principle, clearly identifiable entrances and exits, a power connection (230V) and good data reception (LTE/5G) are an advantage.
The license plate scanners are installed near the entrance. The exact location varies from location to location. Our license plate scanners have a range of up to 100 m and can capture a width of approx. 12 m. They can therefore be mounted on facades, lamp posts or on roofs.
Third party and long-term parkers who park their vehicles without authorization are recognized by our system and automatically receive a sanction notice.
Terms and conditions and information signs are installed on each parking space, which draw attention in unpaid parking space that it is a customer parking space with a corresponding maximum parking period. The corresponding contractual penalty for infringement is also clearly visible. In paid parking spaces, these signs are supplemented by others that explain the parking process using the digital system. The signs are large and easily recognizable at the entrances and exits and on the parking area. Vehicle owners agree to the terms and conditions by driving into the parking lot.
Our digital parking monitoring uses electronic means to monitor your parking spaces. Using AI-based software, cameras reliably record the license plates of all vehicles — without any barriers.
The use of digital systems makes it possible to optimize parking times. Parking space use is made efficient with parking time limits and long parking times are avoided. The parking time limit is set in consultation with your individual needs at your location.
