The founding team
Bastian Pieper
Bastian Pieper, Stanford and TU Munich graduate in Robotics, Cognition and Intelligence, heads the Product and Engineering Department at Wemolo and focuses on the technical development of the product.
Jakob Bodenmüller
Jakob Bodenmüller, a graduate in computer science and business administration from TU Munich, founded the company HIGGS for real-time video applications before joining Wemolo. At Wemolo, he heads the Commercial Department.
Yukio Iwamoto
Yukio Iwamoto, a medical graduate with experience in clinics, research and start-ups, heads the Finance & Accounting, Strategy & Legal, Operations and People & Culture departments at Wemolo.

Series A financing round
In 2022, Wemolo reached a milestone with a €15 million Series A financing round backed by SURPLUS Equity Partners, Armira Growth and existing investor HenQ. At the same time, Wemolo managed 900 parking spaces across all European locations in August. The expansion continued as the company expanded into Italy, Denmark and Poland in April.

Wemolo expands to Italy, Denmark and Poland at the same time
Expansion into the umbrella regions
The expansion continued in 2021 when Wemolo acquired its first international customer in Austria in May. The acquisition of ParkingNext took place in September and the DACH region was completed in October, while expansion into Switzerland took place at the same time.
Two rounds of financing
The financing rounds in 2020 secured Wemolo pre-seed financing of € 650,000 in January and seed financing of € 4.7 million from HenQ in February.
Foundation
Wemolo was founded in 2019 by Jakob Bodenmüller, Moritz Bodenmüller, Bastian Pieper and Yukio Iwamoto. The founding team has its origins at UnternehmerTUM at the Technical University of Munich. The company signed its first customer contract in July of its founding year.
